Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup reduced-sodium tamari or soy sauce (100g)
  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth (100g)
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cornstarch, divided (2 & 1)
  • 3 Tbsp peanut or canola oil, divided (2 & 1)
  • 1 Lb sirloin steak thinly sliced
  • ½ cup thinly sliced white onion
  • 6 cups broccoli florets
  • ¼ cup sliced scallions plus more for garnished
  • 2 tsp finely grated garlic you can use jarred ones
  • white or brown rice for serving
  • crushed red pepper flakes for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl, add the tamari or soy sauce, brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Whisk until combined well. Set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, toss the stake with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large cast iron skillet or large wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook, stirring once, until browned, about 4 minutes.
  • Transfer beef to a clean plate or bowl and set aside.
  • On same skillet or wok, add 1 tablespoon oil and onions. Cook for about 45 seconds. Add the broccoli; cook stirring occasionally until slightly tender, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the scallions and garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Whisk the tamari mixture and add it along with the beef back to the skillet. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute.
  • Serve with rice and garnish with crushed red pepper (optional)
